Therapy for the Queens Community
I work with individuals (early through late adulthood) who need help coping with problems they’ve been unable to solve on their own. Many people come to therapy feeling “fed up” with their problems, needing immediate relief. I often say “I wish I had a magic wand in my desk drawer that would wipe away your troubles.” Unfortunately, I don’t have a magic wand or any quick remedy. However, I am ready to join you in a path toward healing, recovery, and/or fulfillment.
People come to therapy for many different reasons and at varied points in their life. Some common reasons are: unresolved childhood physical/sexual abuse, recent traumatic experience (e.g., losing a loved one or witnessing 9/11 attacks), constant or recurring sadness, excessive worrying, loneliness, dissatisfaction with intimate relationships, low self-esteem, and/or issues common to women (e.g., sexual harassment, sexual assault, postpartum depression).
Regardless of the circumstances that bring you to therapy, the work starts wherever you need to begin. I approach therapy as a mutual effort toward accomplishing your goals. The ultimate goal of treatment is for you to learn to strengthen your sense of self and relationships with others.
I primarily use self-psychology and object relations theories, complimented with cognitive behavioral techniques. The length of treatment depends on your circumstances and needs. Whether you need short-term or long-term therapy, I treat every client with respect, compassion, and an open heart.
If you are ready to seek help and support with your life issues, please contact me by phone or e-mail to schedule an appointment. I offer a free phone consultation to all new clients. I look forward to speaking with/meeting you.
